Speedometer Calibrator
If you’ve installed tires that are larger or smaller than original equipment tires, or if you have installed a ring and pinion gear set with a different rear gear ratio, the Speedometer Calibrator allows you to re-program for correct speedometer readings, as well as correct part-throttle shifting. The vehicle’s computer calculates your vehicle’s speed based on the diameter of the stock tires. If you’ve installed taller or shorter tires, or changed the rear gear ratio, the vehicle’s computer doesn’t know how fast your vehicle is going. As a result, the automatic transmission may not shift correctly and the speedometer readings will not be accurate (as required by law).Emissions Certified 50-State Legal
Hypertech offers an emissions certified version of the Speedometer Calibrator that is legal in all 50 states, including California. Only applications that have been emissions certified for sale in California are available in this version. In addition, there is NO DIFFERENCE IN POWER, PERFORMANCE, OR FEATURE OPTIONS for the same vehicles offered in the non-certified version.Read & Clear Diagnostic Trouble Codes(DTCs)
If you get a “check engine” light or “service needed” message, the Speedometer Calibrator allows you to read the code and then gives you the ability to clear the code and turn the “check engine” light off. You can then make the necessary repairs to prevent the light from coming back on.Return To Stock Or Change Option Settings
Hypertech’s Speedometer Calibrator downloads and saves the stock tuning program, then uploads your customized Power Tuning program. Before taking your vehicle into a dealership for service, always return the vehicle’s computer back to the factory programming. Once you have the vehicle back from the dealership, reinstall the Speedometer Calibrator as before. The Speedometer Calibrator can only be used on one (1) vehicle at a time, so if you sell your vehicle or want to use it on a friend’s vehicle, simply return your vehicle to the stock tuning program and you may then use the programmer on another vehicle that is covered in the same part number.Internet Updateable
The Speedometer Calibrator comes with a USB cable and a CD containing software to enable quick updates over the internet. If your vehicle has a new calibration not available when your Speedometer Calibrator was manufactured, it is possible that you will see a “Cal not found” message on the Speedometer Calibrator screen. If this occurs, you can simply update your Speedometer Calibrator with the correct new calibration via the internet. Simply connect the Speedometer Calibrator (using the provided USB cord) to your computer and go to www.hypertech.com. Then click on the Support button to get update downloads. These settings allow you to customize the shift firmness and quickness to how you want it, and on properly equipped vehicles you can adjust these settings per mode (i.e. Normal mode and Sport mode). The STREET setting is slightly firmer which reduces the nosing over feeling during shifts which really improves the drivability. The SPORT setting gives firm and aggressive shifts which feel great under moderate to heavy acceleration. The PERFORMANCE setting balances firm shifts that feel great at full throttle without being harsh during normal driving. The TRACK setting maximizes the shifting performance for maximum performance during full throttle acceleration.
Trucks and SUVs will also get the TOW setting that reduces the slippage during gear changes by making the shifts a little quicker which can reduce wear and transmission fluid temperatures.
These settings allow you to customize the power delivery to how you want it, and on properly equipped vehicles you can tailor these settings per drive mode. The HYPER-MILEAGE setting is a very aggressive reduction in power delivery compared to the factory settings to help squeeze the most out of your fuel mileage. The MILEAGE setting steps power back modestly for a balance between economy and power. The STOCK setting makes no changes to the throttle response. The STREET setting greatly improves power delivery for improved drivability for everyday performance. Stepping up to the SPORT setting offers quicker throttle response that delivers power much quicker than the factory settings, and really wakes up the power. The PERFORMANCE setting offers an aggressive throttle response which balances drivability and power. The TRACK setting may take some getting used to because the power delivery is very aggressive and unleashes power that you never knew your vehicle had!
Trucks and SUVs will also get the TOW setting that increases the throttle response for additional power during take-off and maintaining speed up hills to minimize downshifting which is just what you need when you're towing or hauling heavy loads.
